Water
Since our inception, VoH has invested in water projects from infrastructure development to the distribution of water purification buckets. Now In partnership with Engineers Without Borders, VoH is operating three gravity-fed chlorinators for water systems in the villages of Chardonnieres and Les Anglais, providing a reliable source of clean drinking water to over 15,000 of our Haitian brothers and sisters.  Our goal by 2013 is to install five more systems across the region of Cote Sud in southern Haiti ultimately reaching over 30,000.

Gravity eliminates the need for pumps and power, greatly reducing maintenance and operational expenses. After identifying and evaluating ten existing systems, all of which tested positive for E. coli, eight were selected to upgrade and retrofit with custom designed chlorinators. Each chlorinator has a projected lifespan of about 20 years, requires no power, and minimal upkeep. According to WHO, chlorine is the cheapest and most effective means of water purification..
